# Polderburn

Polderburn is an independent Dutch arcade racing game that runs directly in a modern web browser. It is created by Dutch web developer Danny de Kruijk as a passion project.

## Current game

- Setting: the Dutch A2 motorway from Amsterdam towards Culemborg, plus a 10.88 km Amsterdam A-to-B stage inspired by the urban rhythm and recognisable locations of A2 Racer II.
- Genre: single-player arcade racing.
- Gameplay: official solo time trials or Early Access CPU races against up to five opponents, alongside traffic, police pursuits, nitro, weather and slow-motion crashes.
- Garage: five fictional cars with different speed, acceleration, handling and stability.
- Progression: a valid finish awards EUR 2,000 in-game, plus EUR 25 for every second below the four-minute target time, up to EUR 5,000 per race. These earned euros are used to buy cars and account-wide paint finishes.
- Service areas: every stage contains a PolderStop pit lane where race damage can be repaired.
- Technology: Three.js and WebGPU.
- Recommended browsers: current versions of Chrome or Edge with hardware acceleration enabled.
- Installation: no download is required.
- Language: Dutch.
- Status: Early Access and actively in development.

## Access

The free trial can be played without payment details. It includes the rainy night stage from Utrecht to Nieuwegein-Zuid and the fictional “Volksheim Club” car.

Lifetime Early Access normally costs EUR 13.99 as a one-time payment, not a subscription. It unlocks all five current stages, CPU races against up to five distinct opponents, the garage shop, paint shop, PolderStop repair stops, a new gamertag and a custom licence plate. The free Volksheim Club remains available in the trial. The four additional cars and extra paint finishes are bought with euros earned by finishing races; they are not separate real-money purchases. Content that is actually released within this Early Access edition is added without a new subscription or renewal. Plans and release order can change because the game is still in development. The current legal meaning of access and lifetime is defined in the [Early Access terms](https://polderburn.nl/voorwaarden/).

## Creator and inspiration

Polderburn was created by [Danny de Kruijk](https://dannydekruijk.nl/), a Dutch web developer. The project is inspired by the immediate fun and recognisable character of classic arcade racing games. Danny specifically mentions A2 Racer by Davilex as a childhood classic and Burnout Paradise as a later influence.

Polderburn is an original, independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Davilex, Electronic Arts, Criterion Games, A2 Racer or Burnout Paradise. Those names describe personal inspiration and historical context only.
