01 / PURE NOSTALGIA
THE GAME I MISS.
Polderburn is a passion project born from pure nostalgia. I want that immediate feeling from the old days: no endless settings or downloads, just jump in and drive.
For me, that means a world you recognise immediately. No anonymous fantasy road, but matrix signs, polders, rain, police, trains, viaducts and the kind of traffic chaos that feels unmistakably Dutch.
The goal is simple: to make a genuinely great racing game with its own personality. Not because anyone asked for it, but because it is the game I want to play.
02 / THE BROWSER CHALLENGE
HOW COOL WOULD IT BE TO PLAY THIS INSTANTLY?
My background in web development makes Polderburn an especially exciting challenge. How cool would it be to play a full 3D game like this directly in your browser?
Web development has been my profession and playground for years. This project brings technology, design, music, performance and game feel together. No app to install first. Open a link, the A2 is in front of you, and you can drive.
Polderburn uses Three.js and WebGPU to render roads, traffic, weather systems, reflections, damage and police live in Chrome and Edge. Every laptop, GPU and browser behaves a little differently, but that technical puzzle is exactly what makes the project interesting.
03 / THE GAMES I MISS
FROM A2 RACER TO BURNOUT PARADISE.
As a child, Davilex’s A2 Racer was a classic. Not because it was technically perfect, but because it did something almost nobody else did: the Netherlands suddenly felt like a game world. Familiar roads, Dutch police and humour you understood immediately.
Later, Burnout Paradise showed how liberating arcade racing can be. Speed, collisions and heading straight into the city without lengthy explanations. I miss that immediacy. Many modern games are impressive, but demand a lot of time, downloads and systems before the fun begins.
“Polderburn is not trying to recreate those memories. It takes the same feeling as a starting point, then follows its own route.”
Polderburn is not a new A2 Racer or a remake. It is my own independent browser game, with a modern web engine and a distinctly Dutch identity.
04 / THE DIRECTION
BUILD, LET PEOPLE PLAY, LISTEN, KEEP GOING.
Polderburn is in Early Access. There is already a playable game, but the destination is not fixed. New stages, cars, a career system, upgrades, ghost racing, computer-controlled opponents and eventually multiplayer are on the direction map. Not as empty release dates, but as ambitions.
The free trial will remain. Anyone can try the night stage with the “Volksheim Club” (you have to be careful with brand and car names too). Buying lifetime Early Access supports further development and lets you grow with what actually gets added.
I share progress openly, listen to players and keep refining the web engine until the game drives the way it feels in my head. Polderburn does not need to be the biggest game. Just a game with character that you are still talking about after a race.
